Essay on Temptation in Sir Gawain and the Green Knight -- Sir Gawain G

Allurement in Sir Gawain and the Green Knightâ â In the sonnet Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, Gawain is a visitor at Hautdesert Castle. During his stay at the mansion, three separate chases occur. These chases likewise equal allurements focused on Gawain by the spouse of the Lord of Hautdesert Castle. In each chase scene, an attribute of the prey of that chase is represented with all due respect against the advances of the Lord's significant other. Â â â The principal allurement of Gawain is maybe the most hard for him to guard. This allurement compares with the chase scene including a deer, as far as the chase, the deer is pursued since it is a staple of the eating routine, or it is something that fulfills an individual. In a similar way, the Lord's significant other saw Gawain as craftsmanship creature that she was chasing. She was sought after him on the sole premise of her licentious want. This, her first allurement, is absolutely sexual. She says Do with me as you will: that well satisfies Inc.,/For I Surrender expediently and sue for elegance Which, to my brain, since I should, is a lot of the best Course (1215-1217-) She is seeing Gawain much as a tracker would see a deer. She has no enthusiasm for any sort of relationship, and she isn't widely playing with him as she does in the following two allurements; she basically needs sex from him, straightforward. She is, it might be said, chasing Gawain; chasing in that she is seeking after Gawain for the sole motivation behind creation him her trophy. On the off chance that he falls prey to this allurement, at that point she has killed him. In his response to the woman, Gawain acts a lot of like a deer. He first attempts to altogether overlook her, however this strategy was ineffective. At that point, he covertly keeps away from her advances, not legitimately standing up to her, however inconspicuously making light of the size of her ... ...ce becomes possibly the most important factor here also; he acknowledges this scarf as a saucy endeavor to outmaneuver the Green Knight in their pending experience. In tolerating this band, however, Gawain has indicated his shortcoming, weakness. As a knight, Gawain should be secured by God alone. By tolerating the scarf, Gawain has indicated that he has lost his confidence in God, since lie feels the band will make a superior showing in ensuring him than God would. While it might be his lone shortcoming, Gawain's weakness has done him no decent in going about as a good, God-dreading knight. Â â â In these enticements, it is clear that Gawain was being tried. Knowing the last out happen to the story, it is conceivable to see that Bertilak and his better half arranged the chases and compulsions to agree with one another. Regardless of whether this is valid or not, Gawain has unquestionably demonstrated his respect during his short remain at Hautdesert Castle.

Freudian Defense Mechanisms - Essay Example She visited around five specialists and after the specialists all gave a similar conclusion she despite everything held up five months before starting the chemotherapy. This was a conspicuous instance of forswearing as a drawback to the person. A previous mediation may have brought about her encountering a superior life during her malignant growth circumstance. Detachment infers utilizing a target perspective. It alludes to the expulsion of all emotions from a circumstance that might be unnaturally troublesome or a memory that may cause torment. For instance, a dear companion of mine as of late lost her mom. During the burial service she was fine until her old auntie came to remind her about something her mom had recently done. That was the trigger she required I thought yet she discharged some uninhibited tears for a second and came back to the ‘masked’ face. I accept this was adequate socially on the grounds that she unleashed the waters in the security of her room. So it was worthwhile to her to a degree in that she concealed any hint of failure before her partners. It was likewise disadvantageous on the grounds that that was an ideal chance to share a portion of the weight, the pressure and the despondency with somebody. Constraint is an endeavor to drive undesirable and upsetting recollections from one’s considerations. In any case, these recollections/emotions affect one’s future conduct. I by and large utilize this system when I am associated with a battle with anybody of my noteworthy others. This causes me to adapt to their ‘immediate’ call for warmth after a significant difference. One case specifically happened when one of my huge others called me ‘ugly’. Name the Strong Acids and Worlds Strongest Acid

Most of the standardized tests students take, like the SAT and GRE, are based on your ability to reason or to understand a concept. The emphasis isnt on memorization. However, in chemistry there are some things you just have to commit to memory. Youll remember the symbols for the first few elements and their atomic masses and certain constants just from using them. On the other hand, its harder to remember the names and structures of the amino acids and the strong acids. The good news, regarding the strong acids, is any other acid is a weak acid. The strong acids dissociate completely in water. Strong Acids You Should Know HCl - hydrochloric acidHNO3 - nitric acidH2SO4 - sulfuric acidHBr - hydrobromic acidHI - hydroiodic acidHClO4 - perchloric acid The Worlds Strongest Acid Although this is the strong acid list, probably found in every chemistry text, none of these acids hold the title of Worlds Strongest Acid. The record-holder used to be fluorosulfuric acid (HFSO3), but the carborane superacids are hundreds of times stronger than fluorosulfuric acid and over a million times stronger than concentrated sulfuric acid. The superacids readily release protons, which is a slightly different criterion for acid strength than the ability to dissociate to release a H ion (a proton). Strong Is Different from Corrosive The carborane acids are incredible proton donors, yet they are not highly corrosive. Corrosiveness is related to the negatively-charged part of the acid. Hydrofluoric acid (HF), for example, is so corrosve it dissolves glass. The fluoride ion attacks the silicon atom in silica glass while the proton is interacting with oxygen. Even though it is highly corrosive, hydrofluoric acid is not considered to be a strong acid because it does not completely dissociate in water.Strength of Acids Bases | Titration Basics

The Cold War was political hostility between the United States of America and the Soviet Union through threats, propaganda and series of warfare incidents that made these superpowers of the time suspicious of one another. With the sources of the reader I will explain who’s to be at fault for the Cold war, the United States or the Soviet Union. Integrating Global Talent Management †Free Samples to Students

Question: Discuss about the Integrating Global Talent Management. Answer: Introduction: Within a company, the employees belong to different social-cultural backgrounds. This difference is also applicable in case of the requirements and approach towards the allocated tasks. Aligning it with the case study, differentiation in the requirements of the telecom operators is one of the major issues, which the company, Telequip is facing. Herein lays the appropriateness of the instance in the case study where the conflicts between the Australian and Taiwanese expats. Affirmation with these different needs would mean incorporation of new features with the network system (Artu et al. 2015). Prior to all this, the company, at the initial stage needs to engage into a 6 months contract, so that it can adopt latest and modern network channels for competing with the contemporaries. Shortage of staffs along with the increased demands from the other projects has aggravated the complexities of the company. Inadequate knowledge of the present staffs is an addition to these complexities. As a matter of specification, the newly hired staffs were the subcontractors from India, who were unfamiliar with the actual scenario of the telecom industry. Along with this, frequent collapse of the systems stalled the productivity of the company, adding more burdens on the employees (Lutz et al. 2017). Incapability to tackle the workload compelled the company, Telequip to encounter major crisis. Incapability of the workers like Jonathan and Malcolm to manage the allocated projects attaches an interrogative parameter to the roles and responsibilities of the managers. This incapability highlights the lackadaisical attitude of the managers towards the convenience and wellbeing of the employees, which broadens the gap in their relationship. On the other hand, getting impatient and angry on the mistakes of the staffs is also a major issue, which has created a negative image about the managers in the minds of the employees. In view of these issues, communication gap is an obvious aspect (Cuaresma 2017). Inaccessibility over the projects has deprived the shareholders from the latest trends undertaken by the company. Convincing employees can be considered as side parting by the managers in terms of fulfilling their individual requirements. On the other hand, inclusion of personal things in the business projects, like settling in the new house, within the official schedule, destroys the integrity of the companys structure. Internal conspiracy is evident from Andrews decision to pretend that he has agreed with Malcolms proposal. Monetary benefits are the major drive behind the acceptance of the offer (Gaudet, Brown and Lunsford. 2017). Kicking out the employees, upon failing in the first chance, is a kind of negation by the managers, which has demotivated the efforts of the employees in terms of performing according to the identified benchmark. Moreover, missing deadlines and the manufacture of poor quality products intensifies the major issues identified. Incapability to meet the requirements of the stakeholders degraded the brand image, adding vulnerability to the market position. Here, one of the greatest threats is that if modifications are not made immediately, all the beneficial projects would be cancelled (Kim and Glinow 2017). This threat has demotivated Andrew and his staffs in terms of the capability to undertake challenging tasks. One of the worries here is the obstacle towards business expansion. In such a situation, thinking that the colleagues would work hard delays the completion of the tasks. This thought adds a negative perspective to the aspect of collaborative working. Demanding work schedule cannot be accounted as one of the challenges. This is because in terms of crisis, demanding work schedule is obvious in terms of reaching to the benchmark level of performance for the companies including Telequip. Setting long hours for the completion of the project, in spite of uncertainty in meeting the deadlines reflects the lack of oriental approach from the employees in terms of the efficient execution of the business activities (Pelster and Schwartz 2017). This is simply a wastage of time, depriving the stakeholders and shareholders from getting their orders at the right time. Appearance of the project as being cancelled, in the first instance reflects the lack of confidence among the employees in terms of conducting the allocated works in an efficient and effective manner. Along with this, non-compliance towards the identified and the specified objectives can be linked with the aspect of communication gap. Lackadaisical attitude of the employees towards the allocated responsibilities deprived the customers of their needs, demands and requirements. In spite of knowing that this fulfillment would take time, this kind of approach is not at all appropriate in terms of achieving success (Albanesi, Olivetti and Prados 2015). Overlooking the deficiencies and starting off with the second round of deliveries suggests the lack of planning in terms of doing the projects in an efficient and effective manner. Terminating 20% of the staffs in the crisis period is an immature act of Telequip managers. This step put the company amidst huge losses. In view of the personal turmoils in life, Andrew emerged incapable of maintaining the balance between personal and professional life. Typhoon missed the city of Taipei; however, the personnel of Telequip were compelled to fall sick due to the hot and humid climate. This typhoon phobia left all the employees of Telequip with uncertainty regarding returning to work (Benko, Spiegelhoff and Walkinshaw 2014). Extreme levels of pollution are the major drive behind this typhoon. The intensity of the pollution levels compelled persons like Andrew to take offs on weekend. This destructed the organized manner of the managerial tasks. The cancellation of the Telequip project demotivated the employees and the managers of the efforts, which they had put for making the project a success. Curses from wife, which Andrew had to listen, are a practical example of this demotivation. As a matter of specification, unrealistic expectations between Andrew and his wife is an obstacle for Andrew in terms of concentrating on business activities. Frequent alterations of the per diem were one on the other reasons for deviating from the focus (Kasemsap 2016). Reduction in the concentration has destroyed his eagerness and passion towards Chinese classes. Along with this, financial crisis is one of the major issues, which has engulfed Telequip. One of the major crises is the tax liabilities. Even the expats in Taipei are not spared from these liabilities. These liabilities includes refund costs and debate processes, which has destroyed the systematized financial parameter. The project, Taipei failed to enhance the clarity of the team members regarding its functionality. This failure detaches the validity of the project in terms of its usage (Boudreau and Cascio 2017). Absence of credit card is also an issue, depriving higher authority people like Andrew from possessing quality and branded products. No warning from the company has acted as an allowance for the employees in terms of making illegal transactions. Along with this, lack of mobility in business is a serious challenge for Telequip business. This is because, a company, in terms of knowing the actual business scenario, needs to be mobile enough. The word lack here adds an interrogative parameter to the security of the market position of the company. Moreover, it nullifies the aspect of business expansion. Improper internalization is also an agent, which poses as a threat for the company in terms of expanding the scope and arena of business. The mentality improper reflects the careless attitude of the personnel of Telequip in terms of attaining fame and glory (Boudreau and Cascio 2017). Lack of selection criteria can be one of the other issues encountered by Telequip in the parameters of human resource management. Herein lays the lack of planning regarding the utilization of efficient and effective means for selecting the right candidates. This lack projects the mismanagement of Telequip managers in the aspect of recruitment and selection. Poor performance of the employees reflects the lack of training. This lack nullifies the preposition pre and post. Exposure of careless attitude in spite of seeing that the employees are not performing well is an example of the lack of assignment management. This attaches an interrogative parameter to the role of the managers in terms of preparing the employees according to the identified and specified requirements (Kasemsap 2016). As a matter of specification, Taicom was not happy with the progress of the business activities. The major drive behind this is the mismanagement in terms of the executing the allocated duties and responsibilities in an efficient and effective manner. Miscommunication between Taicom and Malcolm aggravates the complexities in terms of maintaining the stability in the relationship between the two countries (Boudreau and Cascio 2017). The result of this mismanagement is missing the stipulated deadlines, which destroyed the stability in the relationship between the stakeholders and the native company. Delving deep into the aspect, invisibility distorts the productivity of the company in terms of managerial issues. Weak recruitment and selection Poor intercultural skills and abilities of Jonathan compel the company to encounter the issues of conflicts, discriminations and harassments. Along with this, inadequate technical skills of Malcolm intensify the burden of the managers to track the performance of the employees. Apart from this, hiring the Indian contractors, who lack the basic management skills, proved to be an error of judgement in case of the managers (Kasemsap 2016). This acted as a biggest challenge for the company in terms of executing the project related tasks in an efficient and effective manner. There was a lack of pre-departure training for the expats, which reflects the estimation for the recruitment and initiation of the project. Along with this, the expats were not provided information regarding the RLcP and RJP. This exempted them from basic information regarding the ways and means of doing the project. Here, one of important issues is the unavailability of credit cards for the convenience of the employees. Inflexible reimbursement system along with the obscurity in the financial support system compelled the company to encounter severe financial crisis (Benko, Spiegelhoff and Walkinshaw 2014). Along with this, disruption of the communication channels detached the familial bondage for the employees, who have landed up in Australia for the sake of employment. This lack increased the difficulties of managers like Andrews to find a suitable accommodation in an unknown place. This raises concerns over the safety of the non-resident Indians. The lackadaisical attitude of the personnel in terms of insuring the lives of the foreigners reflects their immature attitude towards the wellbeing of the customers. One of the typical examples of this immaturity is unavailability of quality places to teach Chinese to the foreigners. All these issues have generated stress within the employees as well as the managers regarding handling the business. This has aggravated the stress levels; however, it is no value as there is no hope for its reduction (Albanesi, Olivetti and Prados 2015). Expat repatriation issues The company managers are not concerned about the situations, through which the employees are going. Typical evidence of this lies in the lack of repatriation facilities for the expats. The most striking fact is the incapability of the company managers in terms of providing facilities to Andrew in terms of his repatriation and mitigation of stress levels. In such a situation, untimely visits in between the project activities seem inappropriate, as it distracts the concentration of the employees from the allocated duties and responsibilities (Arora 2014). Miscommunication between the employees is one of the major issues, which contradicts the aspect of collaborative output. This reflects the lack of strategic vision towards the management of the business activities. Careless attitude towards this direction attaches an interrogative parameter to the aspect of the globalization in case of the company. Herein, the lack of training is the most reflected in terms of the failed morale of the staffs (Bay and Rozman 2015). Theoretical analysis of the identified issues Theoretical perspective possesses flexibility to enhance the clarity of the businesspersons in terms of exposing the appropriate approach towards the business activities. Taking a cue from the aspect of approach, behavioral theory can be included within the discussion. In the workplace, the employees including the managers are expected to expose matured behavior towards the execution of the roles and responsibilities. However, delving deep into the case scenario, terminating the staffs in times of crisis is an immature step taken by the managers (Bay and Roseman 2015). On spite of knowing the company is facing crisis, lack of rationality and consciousness in terms of maintaining efficiency in the business activities nullifies the stages of development in case of the managers like Andrew. In view of such a perspective, complaints regarding the improper provision of the facilities cannot be considered as a mistake in case of the employees. In terms of the differentiation in the needs of the operation managers, Maslows hierarchy of needs can be included. This is because; the managers are expected to know the tactics for solving the needs, demands and requirements of the stakeholders and shareholders (Vomberg, Homburg, and Bornemann 2015). Exercising self-assessment helps the managers to evaluate their performance in terms of the identified and specified objectives. Crisis phase is an examination for the personnel in terms of exposing the preconceived and the gathered skills, expertise and knowledge. In this phase, if the managers do not practice rational thinking in the business activities, it adds a negative connotation to the cognitive learning theory as well as the goal setting theory. In spite of seeing that the projects are missing the deadline and there are gaps between the managers and employees, it nullifies this rationality, adding an interrogative parameter to the offered position in case of the employees (Dimov and Dimov 2017). On the other hand, if the managers and the board of directors take keen initiatives to organize discussions and open forums, positivity is added in the perceptions of the managers in terms of the mentality of the employees. Motivational theories can be related with the issue of kicking out the employees upon failing in the first instance. The managers need to encourage the employees, so that they can achieve a better grasp over the workplace environment and expose better performance. The case study is exactly the opposite. The managers like Andrew threatened the employees, that is, if they fail to do the projects properly, they would be fired. This indicates the immatured mentality of the managers (Acemoglu, Gallego and Robinson 2014). Herein, the aspect of motivation attains a negative connotation, which also broadens the gap between the managers and the employees. Viewing it from the other perspective, provision of adequate motivation and encouragement invokes the leader within them. On the contrary, threats act as an obstacle in this process of invocation. This obstacle is a matter of personality for the managers as well as the employees, which reverts the discussion back to the point of behavioral theory. Lack of oriental approach towards the adoption of transactional or transformational leadership makes the managers a misfit within the workplace of Telequip (Arora 2014). Identification of four problems and solutions to those problems Communication gap is the hot burning issue in the workplace of Telequip. This gap has aggravated the complexities of the company in terms of maintaining the efficiency in the business activities. This communication gap has blurred the vision of the employees in terms of the needs, demands and requirements of the operators. Apart from this, kicking out the employees can be given the second place in terms of the major issues. This reflects the lack of trust, dependence and loyalty on the employees (Collings 2014). Herein, a relevant issue is lack of consciousness towards the different needs, demands and requirements of the operators. Along with this, incapability in terms of maintaining the balance between the personal and the professional life attains an important position within the potential issues, which Telequip is facing currently. All of these issues can be tied in the same thread, as it aggravates the complexities of the personnel in terms of doing the workplace activities in an efficient and effective manner. Delving deep into the aspect, the common aspect in all of these issues is the balance. This can be achieved by exercising self-assessment skills. This would help in evaluating the appropriateness, effectiveness and feasibility of the exposed performance in terms of the identified and specified requirements (Acemoglu, Gallego and Robinson 2014). Taking into consideration the checklists and templates would prove beneficial in terms of exposing a clear vision towards the activities, which are being performed. In terms of the different needs, organizing open forums and discussions would help the managers in bringing unity and coordination within the workplace environment. This unity and coordination is needed, so that the projects are successfully completed within the stipulated deadlines. For this, the employees need to be provided with safe and comfortable workplaces, so that they can expose better performance (Vomberg, Homburg and Bornemann 2015). If the workers are satisfied with the quality of the jobs, it would be easy for them to maintain the balance between the personal and the professional life. Solution and recommendations One of the most important recommendations in the present business context is evaluation. Evaluation would bring to the forefront the major drawbacks, which are acting as an obstacle in enhancing the productivity. Spontaneity is required towards the modifications of these drawbacks, as delays can deprive the stakeholders and shareholders from getting their orders within the deadlines. Within this evaluation, training occupies an important position in terms of making the employees familiar with the actual market scenario (Bay and Rosemann 2015). Division of the courses in segments would help the employees to attain an easy grasp over the basic ways of doing the business activities. Here, assessment needs to be done as to check whether the employees are grasping the concepts correctly. Herein lays the appropriateness of the post-training tests, which would ease the burden of the managers in terms of this assessment. Most importantly, the managers need to instigate the employees for prac ticing partnership working, as it would generate cooperation among them (Boudreau and Cascio 2017). Training and evaluation are the two recommendations proposed for the issues encountered by Telequin. The position of the recommendations does not matter in terms of their functions. Undertaking the aspect of training after the evaluation of certain drawbacks seems appropriate in terms of restoring the lost productivity. On the contrary, evaluating after providing training to the employees is also apt. However, frequency needs to be maintained in the execution of evaluation (Kasemsap 2016). This is in terms of keeping time in hand for modifying the drawbacks before going to the second set of activities. In view of this perspective, time management can be recommended along with evaluation and training. Setting short-term goals would improve the focus of the personnel, allowing them to move towards setting long-term goals. This enhances confidence within the employees regarding the capability to undertake challenging and enduring tasks (Benko, Spiegelhoff and Walkinshaw 2014). Children should participate in reality shows Essays -

children should participate in reality shows Today reality shows provide a wonderful platform to the children to prove their talent but also make them hardworking, confident and adaptable. Parents should support their children and encourage them to do what their children are good at doing. I GENUINELY think that children should be allowed on reality TV shows, as these shows not only give them the wonderful platform to prove their talent but also make them hardworking, confident and adaptable. The reality TV shows offer what not to the children- fame, money, opportunities to work with good organisations and lot more. But on the flip side, because of cut-throat competitions, failures and hard work sometimes celebrity children face the difficulty of coping up with studies and work together. They find it difficult to follow the hectic schedules on daily basis. Celebrity children don't get time to play outdoor games, watch television, read books etc. They become so occupied with work and studies that they work day and night and leaves behind their childhood life. On the other side, those children don't win the contests or shows lose their self confidence and often go into depression. Daily we read so many heart rending cases of children committing suicides, just because their parents didn't allow them to participate in shows as it was affecting their studies. A recent example is of 13 year old girl, Boogie Woogie dance show participant hang herself to death in Mumbai because her parents didn't allow her to participate in the competitions as it was affecting her studies. There are many other similar cases which have been happening around the world on daily basis but there is a need to understand the fact that the reality TV shows should not be held entirely responsible for the deaths of the children, their failures or high work pressure and stress. Effective steps should be taken by the organisations that make children work as well as by the parents so that children stay happy and content throughout the day. Enlisted are a few points which should be considered and which may prove helpful in maintaining the balance between work and studies therefore reducing stress and pressure. There should be fixed working hours for the celebrity children which should not exceed three to four hours a day, so that they get enough time to sleep, study and play. Constant motivation and support should be provided by parents and frie nds to the children who don't win the contests or reality TV shows so that they don't go into depression or dejection. Parents should always support their children and encourage them to do what their children are good at doing. But also ensure that they are concentrating on studies as well. Mentioned above are a few things to be kept in mind especially while dealing with the children but the most important thing that children want is love, affection and support which make them strong and confident.

Marilyn Manson Essays (3721 words) - Marilyn Manson, Manson Family

Marilyn Manson Essays (3721 words) - Marilyn Manson, Manson Family Marilyn Manson Marilyn Manson: Pushing the 1st Amendment Marilyn Manson is a name that has been a thorn in the side of society as a moral and ethical issue for the parents and kids of the generation X. He is one of the most controversial artists in the world today, one who chooses to express himself in a way that provokes in the most extreme methods possible. His methods are bizarre and shunned by most of society, as it cannot fathom what he is trying to accomplish. However, further research into his life and beliefs will explain that he is sending a very strong message to the world. A message that is firmly protect by the First Amendment in the American Constitution. This freedom has unleashed a number of technical issues, as well as indirect damage done by the people who would interpret his message incorrectly. The First Amendment guarantees freedom of speech, freedom of the press, and freedom of association (assembly). It also protects the rights of citizens to worship as they please and the right not to be forced to support someone elses religion. The First Amendment also provides for the right to assemble and to demand a change in government policies. (Bill of Rights, Encarta 1999 CDROM). Manson uses this freedom fully, getting his message across by any means possible, mainly to the younger generation. These younger generations are more accepting of his attitude and beliefs, partly due to the fact that teens are more susceptible to mass persuasion and are easily confused. This has helped Manson conjure up a large loyal following of disgruntled teens that are called Mansonites. How Manson gets his message across has been the center of controversy revolving around the US ever since Mansons rise to stardom. His moral, ethical and religious actions have been questioned repeatedly. His ethics may be a representation of how disorientated American society has become in the late 1990s. Alternatively, Manson may simply be showing that the media can be used to manipulate the American mind more easily than their own values at heart. God is in the TV (Rock is Dead) Manson screams. Now, how did this man become what he is today? Where did he form his views about life and society, which would ultimately lead to his notorious antics and cause millions of American parents and city council members to want to cancel his concerts, against the First Amendment? (Politicians Rally against Manson). Marilyn Manson is the band name and the stage name of lead singer Brian Warner, who formed the band in 1989 and whose apparent business savvy and flair for controversy turned into a success. Using androgyny, satanic images and themes of rebellion and death, Manson irked bystanders and proved that outrageous rock was still a viable form of entertainment. (Manson: Rock Star) The name Marilyn Manson comes from a pseudonym of Marilyn Monroe and Charles Manson, two opposites of society. (Manson, 85) Ever since Marilyn Mansons release of his album Anti-Christ Superstar, many people have associated and accused him of influencing teen suicide and Satanism, just because he acted, dressed and performed as an individual brought up by societys mistakes. (Marilyn Manson) It is this kind of media and political attention that Manson has received to become such a big name in controversy in the last decade. It all depends in how one takes his remarks and viewpoints. If no attention were paid to Manso ns antics, there would be no controversy; therefore, his entire essence of being the AntiChrist may have been created by society itself. On moral responsibility: Kids see more from their parents than they would anyone else. Theyre the ones who should set the example. (Manson on Manson) This is Mansons criticism of all the parents who would criticize him. Parents are the biggest complainers about Manson, partly because they are of the older generation and partly because they can use Manson as a scapegoat for problems with teenage crime and suicide in the US. We talked about the kids inside, the tragedy of hopelessness, the blatant rebellion against God and Mansons part in the whole thing. (Benson, Its only Rock N Roll..NOT). This is where the conflicts within the First

Consumer behavior Assignment Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 250 words - 3

Consumer behavior - Assignment Example Perspectives of economics of information emphasize on the importance of advertising as means of product disposal. Advertising changes perception either positively or negatively. Those that bring out a negative perception are often worked on through corrective advertising. Companies are able to acquire market access through advertising although factors such as culture jamming and counterfeiting have been a hindrance to the advertising success of many companies. Advertising further contributes to quality assurance which is guaranteed through total quality management. In recent times advertising has improved through increased media literacy. Though advertising increases sales, consumers still need to be protected (CIEM, 1). Legislation relating to consumers in America focuses on factors such as consumer protection from fraud and deception among other things. Other laws address the need of business ethics and control conscientious consumerism. An example of American legislation that relates to consumers is the need for corporates to carry out corporate social responsibility (CSR) as a way of giving back to the community. Another example is protection of consumers against false advertising and exploitation. Social marketing is the process through which distinct set of activities are used to influence and maintain people’s behaviour. The consequential behaviour aimed at benefiting the general community is supposed to be sustainable. This approach depends on transformative consumer research (TCR) for its effectiveness and is applicable in different social areas such as health and commerce. People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), is an example in America that has used this approach. They discourage people from purchasing products made out of natural fur through public campaigns with the aim of protecting animals. A poll was conducted among ten drivers of different ages. The poll sought to determine whether respondents would

Human resources Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words

Human resources - Essay Example The application of the five functions of human resource management in organizations plays an important role in the success of any organization. Planning, staffing, directing, controlling & organizing functions advance the overall development of organizations. In the planning stage, Job design has to be conducted by arranging duties and responsibilities for the purpose of accomplishing a certain objective. Descriptions and specifications of jobs are also important in planning. HRP is the strategy of forecasting the organizations future requirements for different types of workers, their acquisitions, utilization, improvement, employee cost control, retention and supply to meet organizational needs. Employees are received through staffing function by recruiting, selecting and hiring. Employees have to be directed after recruitment. Induction, training, and development strategies are used to direct employees. Employees are controlled through the use of performance evaluation techniques t o know if they are productive for the company and if not so found out the reasons. They are then either demoted or promoted. The human resource management department finally organizes the activities of the staff to common objectives. Labor and management Relations are maintained. Staff union is organized. It focuses on the relationship between staff and management. However, the Government also involves in the said union as a third party in order to regulate this relationship by the rule of law. If I have to work for as human resource manager, Wabash Fiber Box Company, I could have simply implemented the above said Human resource functions so that I recruit 150 employees in the future and I would have prioritized and sequenced the steps as per the above said standards to set up my HR department. Management is all about planning and implementation. Implementing tasks that were not planned is hardly possible. Therefore, I could have kept and respected the sequential orders of the five functions of human resource. In the planning stage, my department would have used scientific techniques to observe past performances so that jobs are designed properly. Job descriptions would have been prepared for each job. I would have also prepared the competences, abilities, qualifications and experiences required to make sure getting the right person at the right job. I would have forecasted the organizations future requirements for different types of workers, their acquisitions, utilization, development, cost control, retention and supply to meet organizational needs as planned. I could have then attracted capable candidates to fill the vacant positions from both internal and external sources of the organization. I would have used a solid, and systematic process of selecting the right personnel at the right job. Applications sent by the candidates would have been evaluated. Interviews and tests would have been scheduled where necessary. So that I acquire the right people, I wo uld have conducted background Investigations. To know and investigate the applicant family, financial positions, Residential Background, and criminal background will ease the staff tracing procedures. Assessing the applicant’s physical fitness would have been an essential element in receiving the right personnel for the plant. Then, as an applicant is hired, letters of appointments would have been prepared, employment contracts signed as the probationary period is established. This

Closing Down the Oconomo Plant Essay Example for Free

Closing Down the Oconomo Plant Essay This plant is important to the society because it has created employment opportunities to local residents. However, the plant is in the verge of shut down. Jack Ripon , Chief Executive officer of Lamprey Inc. is concerned about higher cost of operation which has decreased profit for the company. The plan is to close down the Oconomo plant and establish a new plant in Mexico. Jack wants Jim Malesckowski, President of Wisconsin Speciality Products Division of Lamprey Inc. o find out about the operational costs of establishing a new plant in Mexico and submit the report to him. Jim thinks that the action to shut down the Oconomo plant might be wrong as long as there were chances to lower the costs. But he also thinks that Jack is right because all the avenues for decreasing costs at the plant have been closed. Besides money, there are other underlying factors that have led the management to bring some changes in the company. We will look at some of the forces that drive Oconomo plant to anticipate for change, changes that are required to be made, and the reasons why union leaders are reluctant to change. . What forces for change are evident at the Oconomo plant? The greatest force that drives the company to look for change is its high operational cost. The plant has so high operational costs that the company has been incurring losses instead of making profits. The management is anticipating changes so that the company will make profits in the future. In order for a company to run successfully, it should realize some returns from the investment made at the plant. Having invested in the company, shareholders also expect return for their investment. It is important for the company to make enough money for the satisfaction of shareholders and the existence of the company in the market. By any means, Lamprey Inc. should reduce its operational cost to withstand the fierce competition in the marketplace. For the compaby to make it in the market, it must change its working conditions so that they fit with the current market situations, (Daft Marcic,2010). Another force that is evident for the change at the Oconomo plant is the uncooperative labor union. Workers have been consistently refusing to cooperate with the management. The company is planning to reduce the amount of pay it’s going to provide to workers. In order to decrease the labor cost, the company is proposing changes but the union leaders have turned a deaf ear to the management’s plan . It’s a great problem when workers are unwilling to listen to the management for possible solution. The situation will get even worse when the workers are not ready to accept the desired change of the company. Competition in the marketplace is also prominent force that is evident for change in this case. Lately, competitors have threatened Lamprey Inc. from the services and products that they are providing to the society. It has been a challenge for the company to manufacture the quality products and beat the competitor’s price. While the competiton is being fierce in the marketplace, Lamprey Inc. has been struggling to sustain the operations. If the same situation persists, the company would not have a way to exist in the market. 2. What is the primary type of change needed—changing â€Å"things† or changing the â€Å"people and culture? Can the Wisconsin plant be saved by changing things alone, by changing people and culture, or must both be changed? Explain your answer. Primary type of change required in this case is changing people and their culture. If people and their attitudes can be changed, work environment will be comfortable and other changes are easy to implement. The attitude of employees especially that of union leaders is not right in the given case. They are disobedient to the management. As long as employees don’t have respect for management, it is hard to bring any other changes. People’s culture is of great significance in the way the company operates because if the culture or people fit in the objectives of the company, rest of things will work accordingly. In changing anything with respect to company, people and culture should be considered at first. If the people working in the company are unhappy with the change, the objectives of change might not be fulfilled. In this particular case, employees are scared of change and in fact don’t let management bring any changes. Such culture is detrimental to the company. Culture should be established in such a way that people are ready to accept the change and welcome the efforts of the management with open heart. Although changing people and their culture is a primary thing, changing things is also important and should be considered for quality and workable plans of the company. Lamprey Inc. needs to bring some change in the products to save its position in the market. If the products are of low quality, the market share of Lamprey Inc. will be directed towards the competitors. In this case, the company has not put enough effort to upgrade the quality of the products. If the same situation persists, it will not be able to face the competition in the industry because competitors are developing quality products at affordable price. A company can’t operate on just a single type of change. It’s important to put into consideration both changes when designing any type of change in the company. In order to change the products, the entire team of the company should be ready and thus change is required in people of the company. To meet the objectives of the desired strategy, the company should take consideration on both types of changes.

Business Analysis Project Essay

Notwithstanding the bleak global economic climate with the Eurozone crisis, the Singapore operators are constantly introducing value-added services. The introduction of premium next-generation mobile services, namely LTE-based, should give ARPU a boost even though the take-up rate might be weak. [pic] Source: BMI Figure 1. 6 shows that the operating revenue has decreased for consecutive years since 2008. This could be attributed largely due to the global economic crisis. Summary of Singapore Telecommunication Industry Singapore government’s strong commitment to deregulation of the industry has assisted the growth of the telecommunication | |sector and built a competitive telecoms market, aided by its geographical location and excellent infrastructure. Singapore | |is one of the first countries in the world to have a fully digital telephone network and continues to maintain a strong | |positive outlook in this sector. In 1997, MobileOne Ltd forayed into Singapore’s telecommunications industry and demolished the previous monopoly held by Singapore Telecommunications Ltd. It was subsequently listed on the Singapore Exchange on 4 December 2002. Since its establishment, M1 has gained repute as an integrated communications service provider in Singapore. Rightly emphasizing on the importance of customers, M1 carries on business with the mission of being â€Å"an efficient and totally customer-focused company, achieving the highest satisfaction for our [their] customers, people and shareholders†. M1 has 2 wholly owned subsidiaries, M1 Net Ltd. and M1 Connect Pte. Ltd. M1 and its subsidiaries carry out its main operations in Singapore. In light of the interdependence of devices, networks, application services and content, M1 recognizes that it needs to diversify from being a pure mobile operator and hence transformed itself in 2007 to a dynamic full-service operator . Operating as a full-service operator ever since, M1 offers a full suite of broadband products, services and managed solutions. With its high-speed fiber network solutions, businesses benefit from faster speeds to improve productivity and reduce costs. This could have invariably contributed to the price reduction of handsets and increase in promotional activities to attract customers. Investors prefer a firm with a higher GPM, which indicates stronger efficiency. Noteworthy is M1’s NPM being consistently higher than StarHub. SingTel maintained its position at 23%. The ability to sustain the highest profit margin and also maintain a consistent revenue growth clearly places SingTel as the market leader in the telecommunications industry. However, it maintaind its stead state despite the Euro crisis. Therefore it is expected that M1 would increase its debt-to-equity ratio, with the economic recovery. Risk declines as the ratio increases as the company’s ability to cover its interest increases. On the other hand, Singtel is the lowest with 8. 8, and it is unclear if it can still afford to leverage upwards without affecting its credit rating. EPS is net profit per share. It reflects the company’s ability to add value to shares and is the most important metric in determining profitability. It is also a major component of another important metric, price per earnings ratio (P/E). The higher the ratio, the more money the company is making.

Who Is the Most Influential Swiss Architect

Le Corbusier (born October 6, 1887 in La Chaux de Fonds, Switzerland) pioneered European modernism in architecture and laid the foundation for what became the Bauhaus Movement in Germany and the International Style in the US. He was born Charles-Edouard Jeanneret-Gris but adopted his mothers maiden name,   Le Corbusier, in 1922 when he set up a partnership with his cousin, engineer Pierre Jeanneret. His writings and theories helped define a new modernism in materials and design. The young pioneer of modern architecture first studied art education at La Chaux de Fonds in Switzerland. Le Corbusier was never formally trained as an architect, yet he went to Paris and studied modern building construction with Auguste Perret and  later worked with Austrian architect Josef Hoffmann. While in Paris, the future Le Corbusier met the French artist Amà ©dà ©e Ozenfant and together they published Aprà ¨s le Cubisme [After Cubism] in 1918. Coming into their own as artists, the pair rejected the Cubists fragmented aesthetic for a more stripped-down, machine-driven style they called Purism. Le Corbusier continued his exploration of purity and color in his Polychromie Architecturale, color charts that are still used today. The earlier buildings by Le Corbusier were smooth, white concrete and glass structures elevated above the ground. He called these works pure prisms. In the late 1940s, Le Corbusier turned to a style known as New Brutalism, which used rough, heavy forms of stone, concrete, stucco, and glass. The same modernist ideas found in Le Corbusiers architecture were also expressed in his designs for simple, streamlined furniture. Imitations of Le Corbusiers chrome-plated tubular steel chairs are still made today. Le Corbusier is perhaps best known for his innovations in urban planning and his solutions for low income housing. Le Corbusier believed that the stark, unornamented buildings he designed would contribute to clean, bright, healthy cities. Le Corbusiers urban ideals were realized in the Unità © dHabitation, or the Radiant City, in Marseilles, France. The Unite incorporated shops, meeting rooms, and living quarters for 1,600 people in a 17-story structure. Today, visitors can stay at the Unite in the historic Hotel Le Corbusier.
